What is this blog and who am I?

This blog is for all Sales people out there who are aspiring to do well in the Middle East. This blog will help you get a competitive edge on other sales people in the region. It is based on my 18 years of professional Sales experience mostly in the Middle East region.
Whether you are just starting out in sales, have several years of sales experience in the region or relocating from outside the region, this blog will be valuable to you.
The intent of this Blog is for me to share my many years of experience and provide a forum where others are encouraged to share their experience, and help the wider community of Sellers out there. The Blog will help equip you with the required knowledge to be able to succeed as a Sales Person in the Middle East.
Sales methodologies and processes are the same regardless where you are in the world, however, the Middle East, like any other region, has local nuances, which might seem trivial, but can make all the difference when it comes to building your pipeline, qualifying your deals and bringing them to successful closure. There are a lot of amazing sales courses out there, but none that take the Middle East region's specifics into account.
In the mean time, if you are looking for a great Sales book to read, with an interesting Sales approach, or you are just kicking off your sales career, then pick up a copy of The Contrarian Salesperson by Jody Williamson. It is what is referred to as success fiction, written as a story with specific Sales lessons. I guarantee it will work if you keep a growth mindset and work hard on implementing the principles and lessons.
So who am I and why should you listen to me? I have been in Technology Sales for over 18 years. I started in pre-sales in 2000, and then moved to full fledged sales 6 years later. I never looked back!

I have worked for the largest technology vendors in the world, Cisco, Google, Microsoft, and Splunk and helped build out their high performance sales teams in the region. I have been an individual contributor and a Sales leader who consistently overachieved, year after year. I have been the recipient of top Sales Awards, and helped my team earn lots of money in commissions! The best part about all these years are the many people I have coached over the years and the long term relationships I have built with my Customers.
As for my Middle East experience, 15 of the 18 years have been spent in the Gulf region, mainly based out of Dubai, covering several countries across Middle East, Africa and Turkey. I was fortunate enough to live and work in Australia for 3 years where I joined Dimension Data, one of the largest System Integrators globally. This helped me get a different perspective and exposure to a developed Western market which allows me to relate to the many Sales people who relocate from outside the region whether from Europe, Americas or Asia PAC.
During my Sales career, I worked on and closed some of the largest deals across the globe. I helped secure some of the largest logos in the region and strategic customers while generating millions of dollars in revenue. Winning is a team effort and Sales is no different. Whether I was the Account manager or the Sales manager, I was always part of a high performance team that made winning those deals possible.
Over the years I have coached, mentored and managed dozens of Sales people and continue to do so on a daily basis. I love it and enjoy it very much as I can contribute to the success of these individuals and not only help them sell better and sell more, rather grow to become successful Sales Leaders and in turn help others succeed.
After seeing a lot of Sales People struggle with selling in the region, or in some cases selling in general, I decided to write this blog. It is not the same as one to one coaching, but definitely better than no coaching at all.
Enough about me, let’s get started!! Looking forward to your comments and feel free to ask any questions. I also look forward to the contribution from all Sales people out there to help the wider Sales community!
